The Clinical Informaticist Associate serves as a subject matter expert for the EHR, providing in-depth support to the inpatient care team and acting as a liaison between clinicians, operational leadership, and IT. This role involves troubleshooting complex clinical workflow and system issues, guiding users through intricate processes, and collaborating with the IT team to enhance system functionality. The associate will proactively monitor and evaluate application effectiveness, serve as a subject matter expert for at least two specialty areas, and perform advanced troubleshooting independently. They will also escalate complex issues, coach team members on troubleshooting techniques, and help manage technological change adoption. Additionally, the role provides end-user support, assists with basic reporting, and participates in efforts to reduce administrative burden through improved use of decision support tools and data analytics. The associate will evaluate program effectiveness, conduct needs and workflow analyses, and ensure the successful implementation and administration of clinical applications. They will participate in cross-functional teams to reimagine clinical processes, implement evidence-based practices, and drive continuous improvement, analyzing clinical workflows for inefficiencies and developing innovative solutions. The role also involves supporting system upgrades, performing purposeful rounding, and acting as a go-to resource for EHR and clinical system questions. The Clinical Informaticist Associate partners in developing and implementing education and training programs, mentors other clinical informatics teammates, and assists in onboarding new clinicians. They help users personalize system settings, analyze EHR usage data for optimization opportunities, and recommend additional training. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and governance groups is key to identifying optimization opportunities and technical improvements. The role determines needs based on evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and business needs, recommending new applications or design modifications. Developing partnerships with leaders to improve outcomes, safety, and operations is essential, as is participating in and leading EHR analysis and design sessions to ensure end-user needs are met, focusing on standardized best practices for improved quality and patient safety. The associate will assist in identifying metrics to monitor project effectiveness, lead clinical informatics department projects, manage to project deadlines and resources, and develop test plans and scenarios for new or enhanced workflows. They will also assist the training team in delivering virtual training sessions and developing job aids and quick reference guides.
