About The Position

Children's Hospital of Michigan, a nationally recognized leader in pediatric medicine since 1886, is seeking a Clinical Geneticist to join the Division of Genetic, Genomic, and Metabolic Disorders. This role offers the opportunity to work within one of Michigan's most comprehensive clinical genetics programs, featuring rare specialty clinics. The position allows for flexibility in defining clinical and research responsibilities, leadership opportunities, and the chance to make a significant impact on genetics care in the Detroit Metro region. The role involves outpatient clinic coverage and inpatient consultations, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, and teaching/supervisory duties for medical students, genetic counseling students, and pediatric residents. The department is supported by an on-site Cytogenetic/Molecular Laboratory and collaborates closely with the Wayne State University Genetic Counseling Graduate Program.

Requirements

MD or DO degree required
Board eligible or board certified in Clinical Genetics
Eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Michigan

Nice To Haves

Board eligible or board certified in Pediatrics or Internal Medicine or Family Medicine is desirable

Responsibilities

Outpatient genetics clinic coverage
Inpatient consultation service
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including geneticists, advanced practice providers, genetic counselors, genetic counselor assistants, RNs, a dietician, a psychologist, and ancillary support staff
Define balance of clinical and research responsibilities
Teaching and supervisory responsibilities for medical students, genetic counseling students, and pediatric residents
Work within specialty programs including Lysosomal Storage Disease Clinic, Pediatric Enzyme Replacement Therapy, Inborn Errors of Metabolism, Pediatric Cancer Genetics Clinic, and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Clinic
