About The Position

The Clinical Fellow at the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic will provide evidence-based treatment to veterans, service members, and their families. The Fellow will gain training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within the first 6 months of employment and should be skilled at offering treatment in a measurement-based, time-limited treatment environment. The Fellow must have background in utilizing evidence-based interventions in the assessment and treatment of mood disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and adjustment disorders. Qualified candidates will be proficient in providing individual, couples, and family therapy, with an emphasis on delivering evidence-based care. Master’s degree from an accredited university is strongly preferred. Credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, LMFT Associate, or LMSW at time of hire with the intent to gather licensure hours under an internally appointed state-approved supervisor is required.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling and licensed to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate; or a Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and licensed to practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate; or a Master’s degree in social work with intent to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
  • Credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, LMFT Associate, or LMSW at time of hire with the intent to gather licensure hours under an internally appointed Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor required.
  • A minimum of one year of practicum/internship experience during graduate school working with adults, children, couples, and families is required.
  • Knowledge in DSM-5-TR diagnoses is required.
  • Experience in PTSD diagnosis and treatment is required.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must have strong math skills.
  • Must have knowledge of clinical services and community resources.
  • Interest, desire and passion in providing high quality evidence-based, time-limited care.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.
  • Must be available to work nights as required to meet business needs.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.
  • Employee should expect to work one evening a week to accommodate the schedules of the clients being served in addition to regularly scheduled hours.
  • Driver’s License with clear record.
  • Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.
  • Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Experience working with military populations and/or Veterans is strongly preferred.
  • PowerPoint and Access a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based treatment and assessment for veterans and their families. After initial training phase, caseloads will gradually build to 20+ contact hours with clients weekly.
  • Performs and documents client screenings, biopsychosocial assessments, and progress and referral information. Conduct clinical intake assessments on veterans and family members as needed. Provide individual, couples, and family psychotherapy to patients, with a focus on delivering evidence-based treatments.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with the caregiver, physician, director, case management and all other disciplines to provide the best care to patients as needed.
  • Attend weekly clinical, supervision, and administrative meetings.
  • Provide services via telehealth platform, as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.
