About The Position

The Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Corporation, part of Mass General Brigham, is a not-for-profit organization that supports patient care, research, teaching, and community service, striving to provide exceptional care. They seek a Clinical Fellowship Speech Language Pathologist for a full-time, temporary 1-year position, split between Spaulding Lexington and Salem Outpatient Centers. This role involves providing diagnostic, counseling, and treatment services to patients with speech, voice, swallowing, language, cognitive, and/or hearing impairments under supervision. The fellow will work collaboratively with a supervisor to ensure quality service delivery and patient well-being.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology required
  • Grace Period for License Eligibility [Massachusetts]
  • Clinical Fellowship begins upon completion of master’s level education in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders
  • Clinical hours required during master’s degree program: 350 hours
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing mechanisms, and ability to communicate that knowledge to patient and family and others as necessary.
  • Patient and family counseling techniques.
  • Familiarity with current treatment approaches to all communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Ability to meet all documentation requirements and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates dependability, perseverance, and flexibility.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate diagnostic and treatment results to patients, families, referral sources and others through written and verbal modalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric Feeding & AAC experience preferred
  • MGB Internal preferred (for License Eligibility)

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision screens, diagnoses, treats and counsels patients demonstrating communication and/or swallowing impairment.
  • Under supervision performs re-evaluations and follow-up of patients seen for diagnostic session and/or for treatment.
  • Conducts an educational presentation for the SLP staff.
  • Conducts at least one case presentation to SLP staff.
  • Under supervision counsels patients and/or families concerning Speech-Language Pathology services and relevant patient care.
