About The Position

Grand Canyon University's College of Nursing and Health Care Professions is seeking a Full-Time Clinical Faculty member for Foundations/Fundamentals. This role is based on campus in Phoenix, Arizona. The Clinical Faculty member will develop and deliver instruction using current teaching methodologies and technologies, focusing on evidence-based instruction in nursing lab activities, from foundational skill development to simulation techniques. The position involves 5 8-hour weekly clinical rotations (6:30 AM to 2:30 PM) at acute care facilities within the Phoenix metro area. The semester structure includes a lab component for the first 7 weeks and clinical rotations/lab for the remaining 8 weeks, with terms starting in September, January, and May.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (MSN) required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and preceptors.
  • An active, current, and unencumbered Registered Nursing License in the state of Arizona or a compact state.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in long-term care or med/surg nursing.
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce didactic content and teach in the context of the clinical and lab application of knowledge and skills related to pre-licensure nursing.
  • Collaborate with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical and lab objectives.
  • Participate in grading written and clinical/lab performance check-offs.
  • Facilitate pre and post conference discussions in the clinical setting.
  • Preserve lines of communication with program faculty and directors, including attendance in select faculty meetings.
  • Remain current with new trends and developments in their field of expertise.
  • Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation.
  • Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession as well as the pillars of the University.
  • Travel to student clinical and lab sites to directly observe student performance.
