About The Position

The Riverside Church is seeking a Clinical Facilitator for Support Group Ministry & Training to provide clinical leadership, program development, and facilitation for support groups designed to foster emotional healing, spiritual growth, and meaningful community connection. This role integrates professional mental health practices with faith-based care to support individuals navigating grief, caregiving, and life transitions. This role will also equip facilitators, strengthen program infrastructure, and ensure a safe, structured, and spiritually grounded group experience for all participants.

Requirements

  • Licensed mental health professional (e.g., LCSW, LMHC) or equivalent experience
  • Experience facilitating group therapy or support groups
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strong background in grief counseling, group facilitation, or clinical mental health
  • Ability to integrate faith-based and clinical approaches
  • Skilled in training, coaching, and leadership development
  • Deep understanding of group dynamics and emotional safety
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and culturally responsive approach

  • Background in faith-based or spiritually integrated care preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead structured, clinically informed support groups (e.g., grief, caregiving, and community support)
  • Facilitate virtual sessions using best practices in group dynamics and emotional care
  • Create safe, non-judgmental environments that encourage healing, reflection, and connection
  • Integrate faith, scripture, and spiritual practices into group experiences
  • Monitor group progress and adapt facilitation approaches to meet participant needs
  • Develop and lead facilitator training sessions for staff and volunteer leaders
  • Equip facilitators with tools in active listening, pastoral care, group management, conflict navigation, and trauma-informed practices
  • Create structured curriculum, session outlines, and facilitation guides
  • Support facilitators in building confidence and effectiveness in leading groups
  • Provide ongoing coaching and consultation to group facilitators
  • Lead post-session debriefs and reflective discussions
  • Offer guidance on complex group dynamics and sensitive pastoral situations
  • Analyze program effectiveness through surveys and participant feedback
  • Develop strategic recommendations for program growth and improvement
