About The Position

Sentara Therapy Center Sports & Ortho is hiring a Clinical Exercise Specialist for a Full Time Opening. The Clinical Exercise Specialist administers therapy treatments under the direct supervision of a licensed leader. They provide quality exercise and health education for patients, ensuring a safe, pleasant, and professional atmosphere, and are productive and efficient in daily operations. The role involves establishing and updating exercise programs to address client/participant needs, supervising and assisting clients/participants with daily exercise sessions to ensure safety, and providing effective instruction to clients/participants and their families through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training. The specialist also supports the health education needs of the center, assists therapists/providers in delivering effective treatment plans, and documents patient response to treatment. Other clinical duties as assigned are expected, along with demonstrating the ability to offer support and potential enhancements of services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Science, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Recreational Therapy, Physical Education, or Clinical Exercise Physiology.
  • 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
  • BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administers therapy treatments under the direct supervision of licensed leader.
  • Provides quality exercise and health education for patients, assuring a safe, pleasant, and professional atmosphere.
  • Establishes and updates the exercise program to address the Client/participant's needs.
  • Supervises and assists clients/participants with their daily exercise sessions, ensuring client/participant safety.
  • Provides effective instruction to Clients/participants and their families through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training.
  • Supports the health education needs of the center.
  • Supports Therapist(s)/Providers in providing effective treatment plans.
  • Documents patient response to treatment.
  • Completes other clinical duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates ability to offer support and potential enhancements of services.
