About The Position

The Clinical Educator RN plays a vital role in promoting the safety and well-being of patients, employees, volunteers, and the community by leading infection prevention initiatives, supporting the ongoing professional development of employees, and taking a proactive approach to education initiatives with partner facilities and clinics. This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating infection control programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., DOH, CMS, OSHA) and serves as a liaison with public health agencies as needed. In addition, this position leads clinical education efforts by facilitating onboarding of nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNA’s), providing regular in-services, training sessions, and continuous learning opportunities that support employee competencies, regulatory compliance, and excellence in hospice and palliative care. The Clinical Educator RN ensures that clinical education aligns with end-of-life care, regulatory compliance, and clinical excellence. The Clinical Educator RN provides educational outreach to schools, healthcare facilities, clinics, and community groups to educate and raise awareness and understanding of hospice and palliative care services. Through these efforts, the RN helps strengthen community partnerships and promote informed care decisions that support patients and families.

Requirements

  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Washington State.
  • Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Safety (BLS).
  • Washington State Food Worker Card issued by the Department of Health.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Strong teaching, communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and educational methodologies.
  • Familiarity with infection control surveillance, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays as part of the administrator on-call rotation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation, as driving is an essential function of this role.
  • Must meet insurance eligibility requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen which includes cannabis testing in Washington State.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Experience in clinical education and/or infection prevention.
  • Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse (CHPN) through the Hospice and Palliative Care Credentialing Center (HPCC).
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC).
  • Hospice and/or palliative care experience.
  • Experience in supervision, team leadership, or staff development.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English, with the ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

  • Passes criminal background and drug screenings.
  • Meets the physical and environmental requirements of the position.
  • Completes agency and departmental orientation and required training programs.
  • Completes ongoing education, policy reviews, and training by designated deadlines.
  • Maintains current licensure(s) and certifications(s) required for the role.
  • Reads, writes, speaks, and understands English fluently.
  • Is available to work as assigned or scheduled.
