About The Position

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for an RN Clinical Educator Nursing to work with the Perianesthesia and Endoscopy team. This hybrid role integrates the responsibilities of a Clinical Educator and Clinical Mentor, delivering formal education, competency development, coaching, and individualized professional guidance to support clinician onboarding, foster evidence-based practice, promote ongoing professional growth, and advance excellence in patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master’s program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master’s program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following: Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date, Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses, Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
  • 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
  • BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of hospital based RN experience
  • Previous Clinical Educator or Clinical Mentor experience
  • ICU or PACU RN experience; ED RN experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
  • Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
  • Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.
