About The Position

The Clinical Director is responsible for the oversight and supervision of clinical staff, ensuring adherence to federal and state licensing entities and accrediting bodies. This role involves developing and monitoring staff performance, managing schedules, and providing direct patient care when necessary. The Clinical Director also plays a key role in program development, implementation, and coordination of services, acting as a liaison between various departments and external stakeholders. The position requires a Master's degree in a behavioral science or related human service field, a minimum of 5 years of direct clinical experience, and potentially a professional license depending on the location. Previous supervisory experience and specific certifications are preferred.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in behavioral science or related human service field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ direct clinical experience.
  • Ability to travel as needed, including by auto and air.
  • Ability to ambulate throughout Caron’s campuses, between buildings, and ascend and descend stairs.
  • Ability to deliver presentations for multiple and lengthy time periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • If in recovery, 2 years continuous sobriety preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional license is preferred (required for Ocean Drive).
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Certified as a qualified supervisor preferred.
  • CCS certification is preferred.
  • Expectation is to obtain CCS or CAC Diplomat within 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and supervision of clinical staff in accordance with licensing and accrediting bodies.
  • Individual and group supervision of assigned staff, developing and monitoring measurable goals.
  • Conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback on documentation, competencies, and goals.
  • Developing performance improvement plans and corrective coaching for supervised staff.
  • Managing direct report schedules, task assignments, timesheets, and time out of office for coverage.
  • Carrying a partial caseload of patients when needed, conducting individual, group, and family sessions with timely documentation.
  • Providing counseling to individual patients and families, applying appropriate counseling theories.
  • Attending multi-disciplinary and administrative meetings.
  • Coordinating services for patients and families.
  • Creating and implementing daily program schedules, with modifications approved by executive/senior leadership.
  • Providing psychoeducational and therapeutic presentations and co-facilitating groups.
  • Meeting individually with clients and providing clinical direction in crisis situations.
  • Troubleshooting grievances and assisting in the investigation of clinical incident reports.
  • Utilizing Caron’s strategic plan for staff and program development.
  • Supporting clinical leadership in developing functional strategies for program infrastructure.
  • Overseeing patient, family, and referral satisfaction, recommending improvements.
  • Serving as a resource to unit supervisors and lead therapists for staff training and development.
  • Acting as the point-person for public speaking events related to programs.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary treatment teams, supervising teams, and collaborating on interventions and referrals.
  • Assuring strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifying needs beyond Caron's scope of care and communicating to referents and appropriate parties.
  • Playing an active role in program development and enhancement.
  • Serving as the liaison between Clinical, Marketing, Finance, Continuing Care, and other departments.
  • Co-facilitating case management for specific referrals to ensure continuity of care and communication.
  • Collaborating with key departments to resolve problems.
  • Assisting with hiring, orientation, and training of clinical staff.
  • Reviewing treatment plans to ensure patients receive necessary care and signing documentation as a qualified professional.
  • Responding to after-hours issues and concerns in a timely manner.
