About The Position

We are excited to announce an opening for a Clinical Director, Maternal Child and Mental Health Services! Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Regional Vice President, Cancer Services (Central), the successful applicant will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Maternal Child and Mental Health programs at Southlake. This includes patient care delivery, operational planning, human resource development, financial stewardship, quality improvement, education, and research. As a key member of our leadership team, you will foster inter-professional collaboration across the continuum of care, ensuring excellence in patient outcomes, service delivery, and staff engagement.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Baccalaureate degree, preferably within a health-related discipline from an accredited educational institution, and/ or a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline preferred.
  • Current registration and in good standing in a regulated health profession.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience, preferably within a unionized acute care environment.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience, ideally managing large interdisciplinary diverse teams.
  • A collaborative leadership style that builds trust and strong partnerships across disciplines with a strong focus on creating and sustaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model, exemplifying Southlake’s values and professional competencies.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Directors, Managers, Physician Leaders, Clinical Chiefs, Division Heads and team members to develop and implement the department’s vision and mission in alignment with Southlake’s overall strategy.
  • Translate organizational priorities into clear program goals, ensuring they remain strategic, relevant, and actionable.
  • Set priorities and allocate resources based on current and future program needs aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Champion principles of continuous improvement, change management, systems thinking, project management, and evidence-based practices across all initiatives.
  • Support the implementation of hospital policies and standards of care to achieve our vision and objectives.
  • Lead strategic planning for the Maternal Child and Mental Health programs, incorporating best practices and innovative approaches.
  • Engage with provincial initiatives and service delivery changes through collaboration with organizations such as OHA, MOH, and OH.
  • Monitor and manage clinical quality outcomes in partnership with department leaders and inter-professional teams.
  • Ensure ongoing development and updating of standards of practice in alignment with evolving professional knowledge and hospital frameworks.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, promoting respect for all roles and encouraging professional development and research.
  • Advocate for a multidisciplinary approach to care, positioning the team as central to patient care and service delivery.
  • Integrate patient-centred care into all decisions, policies, and strategies.
  • Recruit, support, and develop staff to ensure their competence and advancement in their fields of specialty.
  • Implement effective communication strategies to keep staff informed and engaged in delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Champion evidence-based clinical excellence, continuous learning, outcome evaluation, and research.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with academic organizations to facilitate staff and student placements and mentorship programs.
