The Clinical Dietitian I works closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide patient care that is integrated and compatible with the patient-focused medical goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include the application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), which involves completing the nutrition assessment, determining the nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, and monitoring and evaluating the patient's progress. The Clinical Dietitian I utilizes the Scope of Dietetics Practice Framework (SODPF), established Standards of Practice and Professional Performance (SOP/SOPP) in nutrition care and practice-specific dietetics, and evidence-based practice protocols/nutrition practice guidelines to inform nutrition interventions. Clinical Dietitians I are typically dietitians early in their careers or those who have recently completed internships/pre-professional experiences. They consult with higher-level employees for guidance on complex patients or issues when appropriate.
