About The Position

Firelands Health is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to be responsible for the nutritional care of cancer patients. This role involves patient assessment, developing care plans, creating nutrition education materials, and counseling patients and their families on prescribed diets. The dietitian will collaborate with physicians, participate in interdisciplinary team conferences and committees, and maintain progress notes in compliance with facility policies and regulations. This position also involves communicating with various healthcare facilities and programs, and participating in performance improvement activities and mandatory in-services.

Requirements

  • Registered dietitian.
  • Current state licensure.
  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy.
  • Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer membership to the American Dietetic Association and/or professional members to a renal association i.e. CRN.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for nutritional care of cancer patients as outlined in federal and state regulations.
  • Participates in state and federal facility inspections as needed.
  • Responsible for upholding medical center policies as delineated in policy and procedure manuals. Develops nutrition related policies as needed.
  • As part of the interdisciplinary team, responsible for patient assessment and plan of care according to regulations and department policy. Active participate in patient care conferences.
  • Responsible for developing or obtaining patient nutrition education materials.
  • Counsels patient, family, significant other or caregiver on prescribed diet and monitors adherence and response to therapy. Recommends appropriate feeding methods/formula or meal patterns (i.e. IDPN, supplements).
  • Reviews monthly lab work on an individual basis and intervene as appropriate in collaboration with patient’s physician.
  • Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Assists in development and utilization of protocols.
  • Maintains current progress notes for all patients in compliance with facility policy to assure compliance with regulations and, if applicable, state regulations.
  • Responsible for sharing information with entire healthcare team.
  • Active member of the Cancer Committee.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and in educational programs.
  • Communicates with long and short-term care facilities, home care, local nutritional programs, and sales representatives and others, as indicated.
  • Participates in department performance improvement activities as assigned and attends required training.
