About The Position

The Dietitian for the Center for Team Care (CTC) is part of a team focused on keeping VCU Health employees healthy through accessible, patient-centered care. They provide personalized nutrition guidance, lifestyle coaching, and support for employees and their families. Working alongside providers, nurses, pharmacists, and care coordinators, the Dietician helps manage chronic conditions, encourage prevention, and support overall wellness. The role includes nutrition assessments, creating care plans, follow-ups, and leading both one-on-one and group education. This is a hybrid position. We're looking for someone with strong nutrition knowledge, good communication skills, and a passion for helping others improve their health.

Requirements

  • Registered as a Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • For Clinical Dietitian I: May be registry eligible, but must pass the RD exam within the first 6 months of employment in the position.
  • CPR training for those practicing in the outpatient nutrition clinic.
  • For Clinical Dietitian I: Less than one (1) year of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting.
  • For Clinical Dietitian II: One or more years of experience providing nutrition care in an acute care setting as a Registered Dietitian (unless grandfathered in under previous position requirements - 11/20).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
  • Adherence to the Code of Ethics for the profession of dietetics and accountability and responsibility for actions and behavior.

  • For Clinical Dietitian I: N/A
  • For Clinical Dietitian II: If the position is within the outpatient clinical area, experience in counseling in an acute care or outpatient care setting is desired.
  • Outpatient positions: Specialty certification in the area of practice; Certificate in Training (Adult Weight Management, Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management); Motivational interview training.
  • Experience with clinical research protocols for applicable positions.
  • Pediatric Outpatient positions: Flexibility regarding work hours to include evening appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personalized nutrition guidance, lifestyle coaching, and support for employees and their families.
  • Manage chronic conditions, encourage prevention, and support overall wellness.
  • Conduct nutrition assessments.
  • Create care plans.
  • Perform follow-ups.
  • Lead one-on-one and group education sessions.
  • Modify diets, order snacks/supplements, initiate and manage enteral tube feedings.
  • Order head circumferences, heights, lengths, weights.
  • Communicate with health care team/patient food service managers regarding patient needs.
  • Provide in-services to staff.
  • Work weekends as assigned by supervisor.
  • Travel to satellite clinics (e.g. Stony Point, Hanover, etc.) when needed, as determined by supervisor.
