About The Position

The Clinical Dietitian - In-Patient position at Jefferson Center City is a full-time role responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to patients within the organization. This role involves assessing nutrition needs, developing and monitoring nutrition interventions, educating patients and families, and serving as a nutrition resource to the healthcare team. The dietitian will also participate in patient care rounds and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in Nutrition or Dietetics
  • Completion of a supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Registered Dietitian or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • If registration eligible, must past the dietetic registration exam within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure state of Pennsylvania within 6 months of hire.
  • General knowledge of nutrients analysis, electronic medical record, and spreadsheet software

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Related Field
  • One year acute care hospital/critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides appropriate medical nutrition therapy goals for patients throughout the organization.
  • Educates patients regarding their diet/nutrition plan for discharge when needed.
  • Serves as a nutrition resource to physicians, nursing staff, and other health care team members.
  • Participates in patient care rounds.
  • Acts as the patient’s primary advocate for all aspects of nutrition care.
  • Assesses nutrition needs for patients receiving enteral and parenteral feedings, and/or eating based on age and disease specific requirements.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of nutrition interventions for patients based on departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provides nutrition education to patients, families, and/or caregivers as needed.
  • Educates and acts as a resource for students, residents, medical staff, nursing, and other healthcare team members regarding nutrition support practices.
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently utilizing Jefferson’s core values.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form to patients, public, support staff, physicians and other allied health team members.
  • Demonstrates an active leadership role in delivering nutrition services.
  • Demonstrates accountability for proper handling of patient confidential information.
  • Maintains clinical productivity standards.
  • Practices effective time management and prioritizing of tasks.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping of daily clinical activities, including information for projects and other activities.
  • Assists in achieving compliance with accrediting organizations’ regulatory agency standards including The Joint Commission and state and federal regulations.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new dietitians as well as host/hostess hourly associates.
  • Assigns and directs the workload of interns as needed.
  • Works with host/hostess or diet office staff to assure conformance to prescribed diet order.
  • Manages resources (time, materials, staff, use of enteral and parenteral feedings) in a cost-effective manner.
