About The Position

IWK Health is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to join their Nephrology Team. This role is primarily responsible for the nutritional management of children within the nephrology team, covering both inpatient and ambulatory settings. The Clinical Dietitian will work collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary Hematology/Oncology Team and participate in the planning and program development of the Nephrology Team. Additionally, the role involves educating Health Centre staff, dietetic interns, and affiliating students on normal and therapeutic nutrition. The position also includes shared responsibility for caseload coverage throughout the Health Centre, as well as weekend stand-by and call-back coverage as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with major credits in nutrition or dietetics required.
  • Successful completion of a dietetic internship program required.
  • Current license to practice with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Dietetics, or eligible to obtain a license, required.
  • Previous experience in a health care setting required.
  • Experience in pediatric nutrition, enteral and parenteral nutrition and nutritional counselling required.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to family-centred care.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Hematology/Oncology and Nephrology is an asset, primarily in Nephrology.
  • Masters degree is considered an asset.
  • Competency in other languages is an asset.
