About The Position

Seeking a compassionate and highly motivated Outpatient Clinical Dietitian to join our collaborative pulmonary care team, with a specialized focus on Cystic Fibrosis (CF). This role offers a unique opportunity to practice in a renowned CF center of excellence, working alongside multidisciplinary experts dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. You’ll provide evidence-based nutrition assessment, education, and intervention for individuals with cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary conditions in an outpatient setting, while being supported by a highly engaged and team-oriented clinical environment. Consistently and safely performs medical nutrition therapy with a focus on pediatric patients and family centered care. Provides nutrition care utilizing evidence-based practice and clinical judgment to prevent, delay and manage acute and chronic diseases and promote wellness. Shares on call responsibilities as assigned to meet patient care needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or related area
  • Knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy (evidence based individualized nutrition process to help treat acute and chronic medical conditions) in pediatric patients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and families, peers, public, and healthcare team.
  • Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
  • Ability to counsel and educate others.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical equations related to medical nutrition therapy
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Familiarity with nutritional content, sources and use of commercial supplements, tube feedings, infant, pediatric and adult enteral formulas, parenteral nutrition, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals).

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) - within 6 months - Required or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) - within 6 months - Required
  • Licensed Dietitian-Nutrition (LDN) (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 6 months - Required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in dietetics, food and nutrition, or related area
  • At least six (6) months of pediatric medical nutrition therapy experience

Responsibilities

  • Screens and performs comprehensive nutrition assessment/reassessments of all patients identified at nutritional risk per established department time frames, protocols & standards.
  • Plans and initiates medical nutrition therapy for patients if indicated by patient requirements and clinical protocol including but not limited to complex enteral nutrition regimens & parenteral nutrition support.
  • Based on assessment of nutritional status, formulates nutrition care plans with interventions to meet patients' goals.
  • Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and tolerance to nutrition interventions and therapy.
  • Researches and integrates evidence based nutritional care plans.
  • Provide nutrition counseling and nutrition education.
  • Participates in appropriate service, unit, or clinic rounds.
  • Serves as a nutrition advocate for the family.
  • Develops clinical knowledge & skills by cross-covering clinical areas when needed.
  • Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to refer patient families to appropriate resources and programs.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Delivers education sessions for other healthcare professionals, staff & families.
  • Participates in training dietetic interns, nutritional residents, GI/Nutrition fellows, and other students & medical professionals as requested.
  • Interacts professionally with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assists in developing and revising standards of care, patient education materials, and clinical forms.
  • Contributes to department initiatives including, but not limited to: practice guidelines, quality improvement, practice efficiencies, workgroups, or additional goals defined by the department.
  • Meets productivity expectations and practices efficient time management.
  • Responds to patient related communication and maintains accurate & timely clinical documentation, including scheduling & billing information as per enterprise standards.
  • Establishes & implements an individualized plan for professional growth & development including participation in professional organizations, CE, workshops, seminars & staff development programs.
  • Maintains continuing education for registration & licensure in accordance with CDR and PA Dept. of State licensure requirements.
