Within the context of a client and family-centred framework and continuum-based care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision, values and policies of the organization, the Clinical Dietitian, Epilepsy Clinic works in a team based environment providing nutrition care services to clients of the VCH Epilepsy Program for adults through the assessment, planning, implementing and outcome evaluation of nutritional goals and care plans. Utilizes technical and scientific knowledge and proficiency in the area of ketogenic metabolic therapy to perform and monitor nutrition interventions and therapeutic modalities appropriate for the client population. Provides recommendations based on assessment and treatment modalities regarding oral and/or enteral nutrition support regime. Provides guidance and knowledge to clinic staff and other health care professionals across hospital and community settings in the nutritional management of adults with epilepsy and ketogenic metabolic therapy, as needed. Participates in program development and ongoing continuous planning and assessment of treatment protocols and policies for the designated clinical area. Collaborates with members of the health care team and participates in practice-based research projects.
