About The Position

This role involves providing essential dietary and nutritional support to incarcerated individuals and patients through individualized consultation, assessment and follow up care. The role requires Licensure and Registration as a Clinical Dietician, strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple departments, patients and incarcerated individuals and the ability to document all dietetic and nutrition related encounters and audit findings accurately.

Requirements

  • License to practice as a Dietitian in the State of Iowa, as issued by the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examiners.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with multiple departments, patients and incarcerated individuals.
  • Ability to document all dietetic and nutrition related encounters and audit findings accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend modified diets, snacks and other dietary accommodations based on medical indications.
  • Provide nutritional education for diabetes, hyperlipidemia, weight management, hypertension, and other nutrition related topics.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Iowa Medical and Classification Center (IMCC) Dietary and Health Services Department.
  • Complete nutrition assessments for all new admissions to the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital within the allotted time frame.
  • Audit patient meal trays monthly to ensure compliance with dietary guidelines.
