The Clinical Coordinator reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role facilitates unit operations, coordinates staffing, and directs patient care for a specific shift. The Clinical Coordinator champions new initiatives, communicates with patients and families, and implements action plans for safe and efficient care. They also contribute to process improvement, utilize data for goal achievement, and ensure regulatory compliance. Direct patient care is provided as needed. The role involves clinical proficiency, responding to patient and staff needs, and a cost-effective approach to patient care. Quality improvement activities, assessment and intervention in critical situations, and peer review participation are key aspects. Professionally, the role exemplifies a professional image, advocates for patients and colleagues, demonstrates accountability and compassion, and integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical expertise. Leadership involves acting in accordance with organizational culture, ensuring a safe environment, analyzing activities, anticipating staffing needs, coordinating assignments, managing staff time, facilitating interdepartmental communication, promoting organizational philosophy, fostering communication, identifying issues for improvement, providing input on budgetary matters, establishing interdepartmental relationships, performing nurse leader rounding, and empowering staff for service recovery. Education involves assessing staff development needs, orienting new staff to the role, serving as a resource, providing clinical coaching, contributing to unit orientation, and fostering a mentoring culture. Evidence-based practice leadership and participation in clinical research and the Practice Operations Council are also expected.
