About The Position

The Clinical Coordinator supervises the daily operations of Pharmacy Clinical Services for the Hospital, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and Formulary maintenance. This role coordinates with the Director in the development and implementation of all clinical pharmacy activities, supervises Pharmacy Specialists and Pharmacy Residents, and provides leadership, motivation, and educational opportunities to the pharmacy department. The position also involves providing consultative services and direct patient care, which includes the direct observation and evaluation of patients and their medication-related needs; the initiation, modification, or discontinuation of patient-specific pharmacotherapy; and ongoing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring and follow-up of patients in collaboration with other health professionals. The scope of patient care provided may include General Medicine/Surgical, Intensive Care Services, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, Emergency Care, Oncology, Peri-operative, Geriatrics, and Outpatient Services.

Requirements

  • Current state Registered Pharmacist License.
  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy required.
  • 3 years of previous hospital pharmacy experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy computer systems, spreadsheets, word processing programs, and other databases required.
  • Completion of postgraduate clinical training (PGY-1) or > 3 years of qualifying experience required.
  • Board certification in a Board of Pharmacy Specialties clinical specialty required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
  • Postgraduate clinical training PGY-2 preferred.
  • Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
  • Residency experience (experience as a preceptor, residency director, or residency coordinator)
  • Student precepting experience (P3, P4 in a hospital setting)
  • Committee experience and level of involvement (P&T, Medication Safety, etc.)
  • Formulary management experience (create and/or present formulary requests to a committee, participation in formulary change process)
