Position Summary Professional registered nurse who provides clinical expertise and hands-on instruction to new and/or current staff nurses in the role as Clinical Coordinator. Instructs the provision of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation in respective clinical area according to policies and procedures. Effectively interacts with the patient, family members and healthcare team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Also responsible for supporting the established philosophy and framework of Nursing Administration, and the promotion of safe, appropriate and cost-effective nursing care. Meets all standards and requirements of LMHS universal job description.

Requirements

  • Current RN Licensure for Ohio and maintain
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Education
  • Current BLS, ALS, and PALS and maintain
  • Interpret/Understand Surgical Services & GI Lab policies and procedure
  • Works Independently
  • Maintain technology and equipment
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates precepting new employees under the Surgical Services umbrella (Outpatient Surgery, PACU, OR, Sterile Processing, and GI Lab)
  • Works with physicians, Supervisors, Managers, and Directors to identify education needs of Surgical Services staff and implements education plan accordingly
  • Demonstrates/validates proper procedure with specialized procedures/equipment
  • Work with clinical staff to provide patient care and department coverage, as needed
  • Prepares and coordinates patient education material
  • Conduct literature reviews and implement best practices
  • Conducts or facilitates audits
  • Establish and conduct annual unit-specific competencies for all staff
  • Helps to facilitate hospital-wide clinical skills days
  • Facilitates departmental skills annually
  • Coordinates BLS/ALS/PALS for Surgical Services
  • Assist with Mock STEMI’s & Transfers, Code Blue, Code Pink
  • Attend Clinical Coordinator Meetings
  • Participate on Nurse Practice Council
  • Participates in committees as assigned
  • Assist/facilitate hospital wide and unit specific classes
  • Assist with Lippincott competencies as needed
