The Clinical Coordinator Respiratory Care reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role performs all functions of a Respiratory Therapist - RRT and facilitates service line Respiratory Care operations on a shift basis according to policy, procedure, and regulatory requirements. The coordinator also coordinates service line based staffing assignments on a shift basis to achieve high quality and cost-effective care, and coordinates workflow and adjusts employee assignments as necessary. They implement special clinical procedures within the assigned service line involving highly technical equipment management requiring understanding and functional knowledge of complex physiologic processes and interpretation of data. Additionally, the coordinator consults with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals and participates in daily patient rounds for the assigned specialty area to promote consistent quality and delivery of patient care. They participate in Transition into Practice through managing new hire assignments and mentoring, and provide technical/clinical direction and guidance to staff to ensure standards of high quality are achieved and maintained in the delivery of patient care and compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical protocols. The role also responds to urgent issues such as disaster alerts, emergencies, and employee injury appropriately and in a timely manner, and participates in interviewing. The Clinical Coordinator champions new initiatives and helps in service line or hospital-wide committees/task forces.
