Clinical Coordinator-Nursing
About The Position
The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of student clinical placements within the nursing program. This includes fostering and maintaining relationships with healthcare agencies to secure clinical experiences that align with course objectives. The role involves developing efficient schedules for didactic, lab, and clinical sessions, and continuously improving scheduling and curriculum effectiveness. Additionally, the Coordinator orients, evaluates, and mentors adjunct/clinical faculty, manages records of clinical requirements for faculty and students, and provides emergency coverage for didactic and clinical classes when needed. The position also entails teaching within the nursing program as assigned by the Dean/Director of Nursing.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current unencumbered license in the state in which the program is located or multistate privilege to practice in the state.
- An earned master’s degree in nursing or bachelor of science in nursing for Practical Nursing programs.
- Experience of at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
- Ability to act as a catalyst for creative change, organizational development and program quality/efficiency.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven problem solving ability.
- Teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to assist and motivate students.
- Successfully completes criminal background check and drug screening.
- Maintains required immunizations.
- Maintains current CPR and HIPAA certifications.

Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proper respect for students and maintains a student-friendly manner.
- Teaches to course learning objectives on an as needed basis.
- Works effectively as part of the overall faculty team, demonstrating positive interpersonal relations and collaborating with other faculty members.
- Participates in faculty meetings and program committees and responds to management requests.
- Establishes course schedules for faculty and students for each term, including clinical assignments and rotations, lab, simulation, and didactic schedules.
- Coordinates student and faculty orientation to sites and promptly notifies them of any assignment changes.
- Assists clinical faculty in addressing students’ abilities to assume clinical assignments, including educational preparedness and physical, mental, and emotional behaviors.
- Orients, mentors, and evaluates clinical faculty.
- Attends faculty and departmental meetings, and participates appropriately on program committees.
- Communicates effectively to facilitate operations.
- Provides meaningful input into strategic and fiscal planning.
- Promotes a positive image and reputation of the nursing program.
- Networks to establish contacts with employers and potential clinical partners.
- Coordinates and communicates with clinical sites to schedule clinical experiences that fit course objectives.
- Evaluates each clinical site for appropriateness in meeting student learning needs, course outcomes, and program outcomes.
- Conducts routine visits to clinical sites to observe and document faculty and student performance and assess facility satisfaction.
- Coordinates, plans, and implements a process for demonstrating appreciation to clinical facilities and staff.
- Attends workshops and in-service education for CEUs and professional growth.
- Exhibits competency in clinical skills at all levels of the program.
- Pursues a Master of Nursing or doctoral degree in nursing or a related area (if applicable).
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
