About The Position

The Bone Marrow Transplant/Leukemia Clinical Coordinator is an experienced Registered Nurse who demonstrates clinical expertise through advance education, knowledge, and skills in area of practice and clinical nursing specialization. Functions in several dimensions: practitioner, educator, leader, researcher, and consultant. In collaboration with the leadership team supervises the care of the BMT/Leukemia patient.

Requirements

  • Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license is required
  • MSN or Master's Degree in a health-related field required
  • BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association required
  • Oncology/BMT/Leukemia nursing experience required
  • The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs, a strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of our patients and their caregivers, an exceptional focus on teamwork, dedication to ongoing education and the ability and passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are all required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for motivating self and others to deliver and maintain care to the patient that best demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of Hackensack Meridian Health through Professional excellence with personal concern. Facilitates the interdisciplinary approach to achieve positive patient outcomes and is a patient advocate in BMT and Leukemia care.
  • Demonstrates clinical expertise and utilizes advanced assessment skills in areas of clinical specialty to propose intervention and/or action plan utilizing evidence-based research to achieve positive outcomes for patients and families.
  • Provides support and acts as a clinical resource for staff: monitor clinical practice to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Provides culturally appropriate health promotion and disease/injury prevention strategies based on age, learning theory, epidemiological principles, developmental levels, learning needs, readiness, and ability to learn.
  • Coordinates the development of evidenced-based practice protocols and standards of care that include interventions and treatments to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Analyzes patterns of variance in practice making recommendations for evidence based changes to improve patient outcomes utilizing a multidisciplinary approach.
  • Identifies educational needs of patients/families/staff and collaborates with other multidisciplinary team members to develop programs and teaching materials.
  • Assumes responsibility for development, review, and delivery of all Leukemia and BMT focused education throughout the medical center. Assesses the educational needs and learning strategies of patients, families, and staff, and then plans, implements, and evaluates teaching.
  • Facilitates and coordinates/participates in formal or informal educational programs which include mentoring. Serves as a clinical resource person to nursing staff, patients/families, and other multidisciplinary team members across the continuum to evaluate complex patients and identify appropriate desired outcomes and interventions.
  • Assists in the development of evidenced-based practice protocols and standards of care that include interventions and treatments to achieve desired outcomes.
