About The Position

CHEO hosts several provincial programs including Newborn Screening Ontario (NSO). NSO oversees and coordinates dried blood spot screening for several rare diseases, pulse oximetry screening for critical congenital heart disease, hearing loss risk factor screening and parent-led biliary atresia screening across the province. NSO, in partnership with the National Centre for Audiology, is now the Oversight Agency for the Ontario Infant Hearing Program (IHP), operating as wave. The Clinical Content Specialist develops the communication, engagement, adoption and change management strategies for the implementation and maintenance of new provincial clinical care systems and the supporting technology. They oversee and coordinate the alignment and implementation of clinical and/or technical programs and associated processes. They have deep clinical knowledge of the relevant clinical program to lead the provincial adoption of new systems to support the delivery of clinical care. A proven change management expert, this individual coordinates the efforts of internal and external partners and the different clinical areas to successfully adopt new clinical systems and/or technology, often at the point of care. They are the prime liaison between clinical and technical experts. The Clinical Content Specialist is responsible for maintaining communication and engagement with a variety of partners and ensuring that all parties are working together; generates buy-in and participation on projects from all provincial parties and resolves conflicts where necessary using sophisticated facilitation skills. NSO is seeking a Clinical Content Specialist with expertise in pediatric audiology to support wave in IHP oversight. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric audiology and be familiar with Infant Hearing Program protocols for screening, assessment, amplification and surveillance. The Clinical Content Specialist will support training and mentorship initiatives for IHP audiologists to reinforce clinical excellence and consistency across the program.

Requirements

  • Criminal Record Check (Essential)
  • Registration / Eligible for Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (Essential)
  • Minimum 5 years experience working as an audiologist with a pediatric population (Essential)
  • Comprehensively use computer technology and equipment; proficiency in MS Office suite (Essential)
  • Demonstrates exceptional analytical and facilitation skills (Essential)
  • Deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders (Essential)
  • Experience and knowledge of health systems, and healthcare delivery in Ontario (Essential)
  • Capacity to communicate orally & verbally to a wide range of audiences (Essential)
  • Establish positive work environment and high performing team standards (Essential)
  • Good organizational skills/ project management and use of different tools (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with Infant Hearing Program protocols (Preferred)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Acts as clinical champion by advocating for improved health outcomes by coordinating and communicating clinical and/or technical system implementation plans to partners to increase adoption, support high quality data and drive timely decision making
  • Uses their understanding of clinician and patient user experience to inform the implementation of new clinical systems and/or technology
  • Develops and implements communication frameworks and comprehensive education plans to assist with change management among program partners and service providers
  • Develops and implements structured evaluation approaches and reporting processes to assess program performance and clinical outcomes
  • Analyzes the impact of changes resulting from the introduction of new or enhanced clinical systems and/or technology on current clinical workflows and processes
  • Identifies and addresses project risks associated with information access, workflows, timeliness and quality and develops mitigation strategies with the support of management
  • Delivers presentations and demonstrations to program partners across Ontario related to new clinical systems and/or technology
  • Manages the process of knowledge translation related to new clinical systems and/or technology and IHP service delivery
  • Identifies key clinical and technical requirements and drives timely decision making through project governance structure. When necessary, they will escalate the issues to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Uses multiple methods of engagement to provide education, training and communications to program partners and service providers
  • Assists in development and implementation of guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols
  • Participate in additional clinical, administrative, and research activities as required
  • Participates in ongoing development.
  • Maintains and monitors quality assurance practices to continuously improve the quality of data.
  • Provides support to IHP Lead Agencies, service providers, hospitals, midwifery practices and other partners to ensure timely, reliable, valid and usable data.
  • Participates in the project team(s) to ensure enhancements meet the needs of the user community and report concerns or issues where the solution is not user friendly, reduces workload, relevant to the needs and risk to adoption.
