About The Position

A Psychologist is sought to join the Gender Diversity Program at CHEO. The clinical work for this position will comprise of providing comprehensive assessment and treatment to youth at all stages of their journey with gender identity. The Psychologist will be an integral member of the team and work collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary team. The Psychologist will provide care to youth up to 18 years old and their families, providing assessment and evidence based psychotherapy and interventions.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA or APA accredited clinical psychology program (Essential)
  • Registration as a Psychologist in Ontario or eligibility for registration (Essential)
  • Designated practice as a Psychologist in the area of Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents (Essential)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the assessment of children presenting severe and complex mental health problems (Essential)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in different individual psychotherapeutic modalities (e.g. CBT, DBT) (Essential)
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in family therapy (Essential)
  • Demonstrated interest and/or experience with gender affirming care (Essential)
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team (Essential)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals (Essential)
  • Bilingual (French and English) (Essential)
  • Experience in a pediatric medical setting (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Supervision experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Clinical research activities as well as program development, evaluation and quality improvement with the inter-professional team members.
  • Provide psychological assessment, with a focus on diagnostic formulation as well as short term interventions.
  • Provide psychological treatment using different approaches
  • Liaise with community psychologists and other health care professionals
  • Provide supervision/training to pre-doctoral psychology interns and offer learning opportunities to other student professionals in training.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining clinical documentation, progress notes, workload statistics and updating health records in accordance with established standards.
