About The Position

AMHC is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time, exempt, Clinical Consultant to provide clinical leadership and consultation within our Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit in Presque Isle. This position plays a vital role in ensuring individuals experiencing mental health, behavioral, or emotional crises receive high-quality, trauma-informed care while supporting staff through clinical guidance, training, and oversight.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling or a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology.
Licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Counselor, or Clinical Psychologist in the State of Maine.
An MHRT-CSP credential is required. Employees who do not currently hold the credential must complete the MHRT-CSP training within six months of hire.
MANDT (Day 1) and First Aid/CPR are required and will be provided by the agency. Employees are responsible for maintaining all required certifications throughout employment.
The ability to pass a background check and meet other licensing or regulatory requirements is required at time of hire and throughout employment.
Experience working with children and adults experiencing behavioral health crises.
Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical decision-making skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Commitment to providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centered care.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk evaluations.
Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, supportive counseling, and safety planning.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans.
Provide clinical consultation and guidance on complex cases.
Train and mentor crisis staff on trauma-informed, person-centered, and developmentally appropriate interventions.
Support quality documentation and compliance with agency and regulatory standards.
Develop and improve clinical protocols and procedures for crisis services.
Collaborate with families, community providers, and other systems of care to promote continuity of services.
Participate in team meetings, care coordination, and quality improvement initiatives.
Promote ethical, evidence-based, and recovery-oriented clinical practice.
