About The Position

The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy Kansas City is recruiting psychologists at all levels of experience or rank to join their team and expand access to mental and behavioral health care to the youth of the region. They seek psychologists with a broad range of expertise in evidence-based assessment and intervention to help expand existing programs and assist in the development of new programs. Common referrals to the psychology team include inattention, problems with learning, developmental and intellectual differences, depression, anxiety, autism, and disruptive behavior. The division has opened acute care programs (partial hospitalization program, inpatient medical surgical program for youth with medical and behavioral health comorbidity) and seeks psychologists interested in stepdown care, including parent management training and assisting caregivers and youth with adherence to wellness plans. Referrals to clinical child psychologists come from the community (including primary care providers across the region) and a variety of Children’s Mercy medical subspecialties. This position will include teaching in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs. It will also include protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is provided to all new faculty members, with additional support available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience. The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health at Children’s Mercy is growing and expanding programs as part of the institution’s Mental and Behavioral Health Strategic Plan Illuminate: Lighting the Path Forward for Mental Health. They offer a dynamic and collegial work environment that includes 60 psychologists as well as numerous developmental pediatricians and child and adolescent psychiatrists, master’s and doctoral level board certified behavior analysts, other research and pediatrics faculty, and allied health professionals who work together to provide outstanding mental and behavioral health care to youth in the region and beyond. Requirements

A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, pediatric psychology, clinical child psychology, or related field.
Completion of an APA-accredited internship and/or post-doctoral fellowship with clinical child and adolescent psychology as a major area of study.
Eligibility for clinical psychology licensure in Missouri and Kansas.

Willingness to be vaccinated for seasonal influenza.
Willingness to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005.
Ability to maintain professional relationships with fellow employees, patients, parents, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Provide evidence-based assessment and intervention.

Provide assessment and consultation for youth in the foster care system.
Provide pediatric psychology services in various subspecialties (solid organ transplant, surgical subspecialties, rehabilitation medicine, critical care medicine, weight management, sleep medicine, cardiology, allergy/immunology, integrated primary care, hematology/oncology, neuropsychology, and others).
Teach in the hospital’s pediatric medical and psychology training programs.
Engage in protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities.
