About The Position

Vanderbilt Health is seeking a Clinical Athletic Trainer to join the Vanderbilt Orthopedics team at their growing Antioch location. This role involves working alongside orthopedic physicians in a collaborative outpatient setting, providing care for patients with sports medicine injuries, musculoskeletal conditions, fractures, joint disorders, and post-operative needs. The position is full-time with a variable day schedule, typically from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Clinical Athletic Trainer will support a diverse patient population, including competitive athletes, active adults, and seniors, playing a key role in delivering an exceptional patient experience. This role is ideal for an Athletic Trainer who enjoys building strong provider relationships, critical thinking, and working in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Requirements

  • Tennessee Licensed Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • BOC Certification required
  • One year of Athletic Training experience required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • 1 year experience level
  • Bachelor's degree

Responsibilities

  • Provides services to patients and athletes who have impairments, functional limitations or changes in physical function and health status as a result of injury, illness or other causes with occasional guidance.
  • Actively collaborates with the health care/educational team which consists of the Director of Sports Medicine, team physicians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center specialists, athletic trainers and physical therapists to meet patient care, outcomes and system treatment, rehabilitation care to athletes using modalities, personnel, equipment and supply resources.
  • Partner directly with orthopedic physicians to support patient evaluation, treatment, and care coordination.
  • Assist with clinical procedures, patient education, and day-to-day orthopedic care activities.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Support patients across a broad range of orthopedic and sports medicine diagnoses.
  • Serve as a patient advocate while helping create an outstanding clinical experience.
  • Utilize critical thinking, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills to support clinic operations and patient care.
  • Collaborates in establishing athletic training and sports medicine services, plan of care; then coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient/athlete care needs across the continuum.
  • Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's/athlete's care and management to determine patient/athlete functional capabilities within defined activity levels.
  • Continually utilizes Athletic Training skills and resources to evaluate patient's/athlete's functional capabilities towards optimal, safe participation, and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
