Clinical Associate - Med Surg, Full-Time, Night Shift
About The Position
UChicago Medicine is hiring a Clinical Associate (CNA) for the Med Surg unit at Ingalls Memorial Hospital. This is a 100% onsite position for someone based in the greater Chicagoland area. Under the leadership of the Manager and Clinical Supervisor, the Clinical Associate performs assigned supportive work related to patient care, using the skills and knowledge required by unit-specific competencies and the Center’s Scope of Care. The role provides high-quality, cost-effective care and treatment while working to meet the expectations of patients, physicians, families, and significant others. The position is full-time at 0.9 FTE, with 12-hour night shifts.
Requirements
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed Medical Terminology course.
- Past or current experience in an acute-care hospital setting.
Responsibilities
- Promote the values and mission of Ingalls Memorial Hospital, clinical excellence, and service.
- Act as a patient and family advocate.
- Provide comfort measures and assistance to patients and families.
- Perform hourly patient rounds and address needs as appropriate.
- Provide care according to unit-specific competencies and the Scope of Care.
- Understand growth and development and respond effectively to the needs of specific patient populations.
- Follow the plan of care under the leadership of the staff nurse by completing assigned direct patient-care tasks.
- Assist with admissions by preparing patient rooms, orienting patients, obtaining height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and blood pressure (in both arms when applicable), changing clothing, and labeling and storing personal care items.
- Follow infection-control policies and procedures.
