About The Position

The 8 MICU is a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit specializing in the care of Intensivist Medicine patients, with a particular focus on sepsis and septic shock, operating under a closed ICU model of care. This role offers an opportunity to contribute valuable skills in a setting recognized for providing high-quality patient care. As a Clinical Associate, the individual will deliver basic clinical services to patients and provide clerical support to the unit's healthcare team. The successful candidate must be available to attend mandatory orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the initial two weeks. Following orientation, the candidate will work three 12-hour night shifts per week, including every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements.

Requirements

High school graduate or GED.
No prior experience required.
Certified Nursing Assistant is required for Critical Access Area (otherwise none).
AHA BLS-HCP required.
Effective interpersonal, communication, and team-working skills.
Must be organized and self-motivated.
Must have knowledge of office procedure and equipment.
Ability to attend required orientation classes during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm for the first 2 weeks.

Responsibilities

Welcomes and assists patients and visitors with registration.
May assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Coordinates patient flow into/out of area using department/unit specific software and Intranet.
Schedules patient therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
May review medical records for outstanding orders and notifies nurse of stat orders and medication changes.
Cleans unit-based equipment and gathers supplies needed to operate equipment between patients as needed.
Transports patients, supplies specimens and equipment within the facility.
May assist with chart audits.
May perform unit-based patient care tasks for patients.
May participate in the sitter process.
Interacts with patients, visitors, physicians, and other health professionals.
Answers incoming calls via telephone and patient call system.
Routes calls as needed and takes messages.
Provides scheduling coverage support for department/unit staff scheduling, including back up coverage.
Operates and maintains general office equipment.
Orders department/unit supplies and equipment and stocks/organizes supplies.
Serves as a resource for department/unit software system.
Monitors cleanliness of waiting and break rooms and performs safety/environmental rounds.
Assists with maintaining regulatory compliance in unit.
