About The Position

The clinical nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff. This role involves performing professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. The nurse will evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of the plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary. Additionally, the clinical nurse acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit and functions as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor/manager.

Requirements

  • Must possess PALS certification within 6 months of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year recent critical care experience
  • All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification

  • Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements
  • Pediatric experience
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Responsibilities
