About The Position

The Clinical Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Science Program in Integrated Nutrition within the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) is a 12-month faculty position. The anticipated start date of employment is August 1, 2026. The College of Health and Human Sciences offers various undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a second M.S. degree in Nutrition with concentrations in Integrated Nutrition, Environmental Nutrition, and Nutrition Science. The college serves approximately 1900 undergraduate and graduate majors. The University of Memphis is recognized as a Research 1 Institution with a diverse student population of approximately 20,000 students.

Requirements

  • An earned master’s degree in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics or a related area of study is required at the time of hire.
  • Credentialing as a registered dietitian/nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • State of Tennessee Licensure as a dietitian/nutritionist is required.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience is required.
  • College-level teaching experience is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Prior administrative and leadership experience is required, including experience with ACEND.
  • Candidate must meet eligibility requirements to begin and continue working in the United States at the time of appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • A doctoral degree will be required within two years of hire date to maintain the position.
  • Active involvement in the dietetics profession is desired.
  • A research program in the area of Nutrition is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Director of the Master of Science program in Integrated Nutrition, including oversight of accreditation (through ACEND) and all aspects of managing a robust graduate program.
  • Recruit and enroll 15+ new students each year for the accelerated 12-month MS program (top priority).
  • Effectively teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in Nutrition and related areas (in-person, lab, online), including no more than three course sections (9 credit hours) each fall, spring, and summer term.
  • Develop new courses and training opportunities (either traditional for-credit or continuing education—including culinary medicine).
  • Work in partnership with Campus Recreation to deliver nutrition-focused programming.
  • Provide guidance in student research and be engaged in independent research on a small scale.
  • Provide service to the college, university, and profession.
