About The Position

The Nocturnist Physician provides Hospital Medicine services for the UCI Health - Los Alamitos Hospital inpatient medicine wards exclusively during overnight hours. Core responsibilities include supervision of APP staff, focusing on after-hours admissions from the ED, cross-coverage of admitted patients, and managing acute changes in condition and patient stabilization. Procedures are not required for this role. The position requires timely handoff of all overnight events and pending clinical issues to the incoming day Hospitalist team.

Requirements

M.D./D.O./ MBBS or equivalent degree
Unrestricted California state medical license or eligibility to obtain one
Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Relevant clinical experience within two years of hire
Demonstrated experience in quality improvement to improve patient outcomes
Leadership skills; ability to motivate, inspire, communicate with faculty, residents, staff, and peers to maintain a professional, team-based approach in the care of patients
Adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
Compliance with all UC policies and procedures
Maintenance of patient confidentiality and compliance with all state and federal privacy laws
Current DEA
Current ACLS
Experience in providing and/or oversight of care
Ability to provide proof of work authorization
