About The Position

The Clinical Assistant works in an outpatient sports medicine clinic alongside a team of Doctors, Physician’s Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners. This role involves preparing patients and their electronic medical records for the physician, facilitating doctor's orders, and communicating patient injuries and conditions to the provider. Successful candidates will also support physicians and midlevel providers with their clinics by assisting with suture removal, injection preparation, and brace fitting. Other duties include scheduling surgeries and follow-up appointments, providing patient education (in person and over the phone), and documenting office visits and patient communication. On-the-job training is provided. The primary focus is on patients in the clinic setting, Monday through Friday, with no late nights, holidays, or weekends. For Athletic Trainers, there are optional outreach opportunities with local sporting events for additional compensation outside of normal clinic hours. Compensation is based on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education preferred
  • Licensure or Certification in one of the following: Athletic Trainer: BOC certification AND State of Tennessee AT license
  • Registered Nurse: State of Tennessee RN license
  • Licensed Practice Nurse: State of Tennessee LPN license
  • Medical Assistant: Certification or registration through an accredited national institution
  • Proficiency using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to perform patient education duties

  • Medical assisting training preferred
