Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of POC's Physicians. This role involves escorting patients, preparing them for exams, interviewing them to determine medical problems, and documenting information in e-charts. The Clinical Assistant is responsible for obtaining and recording vital signs, assisting with physician's orders, collecting samples for testing, and performing routine laboratory tests. They also order x-rays, schedule diagnostic studies and surgeries, prepare and assist with injections and aspirations, and manage specimen preparation for the laboratory. Additional duties include the application and removal of casts, splints, and braces, performing dressing changes, removing sutures and staples, fitting DME, and providing Physical Therapy referrals. The role also requires maintaining stock, providing patient education materials, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, preparing and e-prescribing prescriptions, coordinating appointments, and communicating schedule changes. The Clinical Assistant monitors biohazardous waste, obtains and stores x-ray and imaging results, imports outside discs, and provides backup for x-ray duties. They serve as a liaison between patients and physicians, coordinate consultations, and provide staff coverage. Responsibilities extend to completing handicap parking permits, FMLA, disability forms, and work excuses. The role requires documenting all aspects of patient visits in Athena, supporting management with diagnosis codes, scheduling OR cases, and handling all clinical patient phone calls. They also notify manufacturer's reps of surgical cases and coordinate special equipment needs. The Clinical Assistant maintains a clean and organized patient room environment and attends meetings as requested.
