About The Position

This role is responsible for providing clinical support in a Women's Care setting. Key duties include patient preparation, assisting medical providers with exams and procedures, performing CLIA-waived testing, administering medications, documenting patient care, and coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team. The position also involves quality improvement initiatives, maintaining the clinical environment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Professional growth and teamwork are emphasized.

Requirements

  • Completion of Medical Assisting program, with evidence of training in clinic procedures and duties.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Required.
  • None (minimum experience).
  • Appropriate clinical skills.
  • Telephone skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Flexible in accepting work assignments.
  • Ability to respond appropriately and consistently to managerial directives.
  • Able to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse population in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 25 lbs. frequently.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year experience in a medical setting, preferably office/clinic.
  • Medical billing experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephones promptly, handles/screens calls, schedules patient appointments, and takes messages.
  • Verifies insurance coverage, conducts income determinations, assigns payment category, and updates patient information.
  • Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs, height, weight, and intake information in the EHR.
  • Determines and documents reason for visit and updates histories.
  • Performs medication reconciliation.
  • Prepares exam rooms, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assists medical/nursing providers with physical exams, gynecological exams, minor procedures/sutures, wound care, LARC procedures, EKG, nebulizer treatments, audiology/tympanometry, and other assigned procedures.
  • Provides supportive communication during procedures.
  • Prioritizes patient safety and escalates abnormal findings.
  • Performs CLIA-waived testing.
  • Prepares and administers medications, including immunizations.
  • Documents all patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
  • Communicates lab and diagnostic test results per policy.
  • Reinforces provider education and utilizes teach-back methods.
  • Follows infection control standards and equipment safety protocols.
  • Maintains patient privacy and dignity.
  • Communicates clearly, respectfully, and effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Collaborates with providers, nurses, care coordinators, front office staff, and other departments.
  • Schedules in-house procedures and initiates referrals.
  • Participates in referral tracking, follow-up, and care coordination.
  • Communicates status updates to providers and care team members.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with accurate documentation and data entry for reporting.
  • Identifies care gaps and supports outreach and follow-up efforts.
  • Participates in huddles and staff meetings to review quality metrics.
  • Maintains cleanliness and disinfection of exam rooms and clinical work areas.
  • Completes refrigerator/freezer temperature logs, medication and supply expiration checks, and CLIA quality control processes.
  • Maintains and uses clinical equipment appropriately; reports malfunctions.
  • Enters orders appropriately for completed testing and health maintenance measures.
  • Assists with desktop and workflow functions.
  • Maintains BLS certification.
  • Demonstrates commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Maintains certification in good standing (if applicable).
  • Seeks supervision appropriately and functions as a reliable team member.
  • Supports a culture of safety, teamwork, respectful communication, and continuous growth.
  • Participates in team meetings.
  • Fills in for other staff as needed and qualified.
  • Assists the Center Manager, Nurse Manager, or Primary Care Coordinator as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
