About The Position

The Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty should have earned a DDS/DMD degree, having a minimum of five (5) years' experience in general dentistry. S/he should be committed to educating and empowering students with a wide range of clinical and academic abilities. The Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty must be eligible for and obtain licensure in the state of Illinois and must be able to obtain an unrestricted DEA license. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Clinical Education, the Clinical Faculty will work directly with students in the patient care clinic, supervising all areas of general dentistry. The role requires being a positive role model, adhering to college protocols, and demonstrating competence in current and future dental technologies. The faculty member will mentor students, engage in lifelong learning, adopt various teaching techniques, and serve on committees. Professional interaction with all faculty, students, staff, and patients is expected, along with developing and delivering lectures and utilizing the college's digital record-keeping system. Timely completion of notes, codes, and student evaluations is also required, along with demonstrating collaborative relationships with dental specialists and being a positive influence within the college.

Requirements

Earned a DDS/DMD degree.
Minimum of five (5) years' experience in general dentistry.
Eligible for and obtain licensure in the state of Illinois.
Able to obtain an unrestricted DEA license.
Competent in the use of the college's patient digital record keeping system and related software.
Ability to work chairside to evaluate procedures being performed by students.
Ability to sit or stand chairside and demonstrate procedures for students as needed on dental mannequins or patients.
Ability to communicate, listen and follow along with any communications occurring during students' learning.
Capable of tolerating the lights and noises associated with the dental patient care clinic.
Capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, including looking at a computer monitor for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities
