About The Position

The University of Maryland School of Social Work (UMSSW) is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor, a non-tenure track, full-time (10-month) faculty position. The ideal candidate will have social work practice experience and the ability to teach in the clinical concentration. UMSSW is committed to advancing knowledge, driving social impact, and preparing future social work practitioners and leaders. The school is a large and respected institution, fostering a collaborative community dedicated to impactful teaching, scholarship, and change. This position involves teaching up to 7 graduate courses annually and committee service, with opportunities to teach across UMSSW's main campus in Baltimore, its Rockville satellite program, and its online MSW program. The school is moving to a new, state-of-the-art, net-zero building in 2027, reflecting its commitment to wellbeing and sustainability.

Requirements

  • MSW degree
  • At least four years of practice experience
  • Expertise in teaching and mentoring students to work with diverse populations and communities
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and student success
  • Dedication to advancing equity and justice through anti-oppressive and anti-racist approaches
  • Ability to integrate research and scholarship into course development, assignments, and lectures
  • Collaborative spirit that advances interdisciplinary scholarship and community-engaged partnerships
  • Applicants are expected to reside in or be able to relocate to the State of Maryland. Consideration may also be given to residents of the District of Columbia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or West Virginia. This residency requirement also applies to those performing telework.
