About The Position

The Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered psychological care for pediatric patients with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, and childhood mental health, behavioral, and psychological disorders. This position is jointly employed by The University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System and supports the clinical, educational, research, and service missions of both institutions. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the faculty member actively participates in the education and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees. The individual also contributes to departmental and divisional academic activities through teaching, scholarly engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, quality improvement, committee service, and other activities that advance the missions of the department, division, and institution.

Requirements

  • PhD in Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Licensed Psychologist (LP) in Kansas with the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB), or eligible for licensure in Kansas.
  • Experience conducting diagnostic evaluations and providing behavior therapy for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or childhood mental health disorders.
  • Experience participating in interdisciplinary diagnostic evaluations.
  • Experience working with families of children with disabilities.
  • Experience with Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) administration and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized psychological assessment and treatment services for pediatric patients with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, and childhood mental health, behavioral, and psychological disorders.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and provide behavior therapy using current, evidence-based practices and techniques.
  • Provide clinical services in outpatient and, as applicable, inpatient settings.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team diagnostic evaluations and collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Collaborate with patients' families and caregivers as part of the assessment and treatment process.
  • Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and graduate-level learners from a variety of disciplines.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, seminars, quality improvement activities, scholarly activities, and other academic activities as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in pediatric developmental psychology, psychological assessment, behavioral intervention, and related areas of practice.
