About The Position

The Indiana University School of Dentistry is recruiting for a full-time (1.0 FTE) clinical-track faculty position focused on Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) within the Department of Dental Public Health and Dental Informatics. This is a clinical-track position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor. The department has a long-standing commitment to community-based education, public health practice, and service-learning. The faculty member will serve as course director and coordinate Community-Based Dental Education activities, strengthen partnerships with community clinical sites and public health agencies, and support community-based learning opportunities for students across educational programs. The successful candidate will contribute primarily to the Department’s teaching, service-learning, and community-based education mission. Core responsibilities include coordination and oversight of student external rotations, community-based educational experiences, and service-learning activities, with support from established departmental staff and leadership infrastructure; contribution to teaching in Dental Public Health and related areas; and support of student learning opportunities aligned with achievement of competency in oral health promotion and prevention. The faculty member will collaborate with community organizations, public health agencies, and clinical partners to support community-based educational activities, as well as engage in university service at the department, school, and university levels. Regular travel within the state of Indiana is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee Community-Based Dental Education (CBDE) student rotations, community-based educational experiences, and service-learning activities
  • Provide instruction and direct the Community Based Dental Education courses and curriculum within the pre-doctoral dental education program, including student assessment and program evaluation and improvement
  • Support development and maintenance of community clinical sites and external partnerships that support student learning experiences
  • Contribute to didactic, community-based, and service-learning activities in Dental Public Health and related areas, including coordination of student learning opportunities that support achievement of competency in oral health promotion and prevention
  • Mentor predoctoral and graduate students engaged in community-based and public health activities
  • Develop and disseminate community-engaged scholarship including program evaluation assessment activities, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Participate in institutional service at the department, school, and university levels
  • Collaborate with community clinical sites, public health agencies, and external partners to support community-based educational experiences and service-learning activities
