About The Position

Essentia Health is hiring for a Clinical Assistant or a Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship to join their Moose Lake Clinic. The Clinical Assistant Apprenticeship Program offers individuals the opportunity to become certified through the National Health Associations CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) Certification program. This involves one year of full-time on-the-job training combined with educational courses, preparing the apprentice for CCMA board certification. Apprentices will be paired with mentors and preceptors to learn all facets of Clinical Assistant duties while studying classroom materials independently with support from instructors and staff. During on-the-job training, apprentices will work at an entry-level scope, assisting RNs, Physicians, and other providers with direct patient care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly. The Clinical Assistant position supports the Family Practice team (RNs, Physicians, and other providers) by providing direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting to contribute to Essentia Health's mission and goals. Individuals at all career stages are invited to apply if they hold current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant, have completed a Medical Assistant Program (with certification required within one year of hire), or hold current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (for Apprenticeship)
  • Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant (for Clinical Assistant)
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, with certification required within one year of hire (must pass certification within two attempts) (for Clinical Assistant)
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state (for Clinical Assistant)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

  • Assist RN, Physician and other providers with direct patient care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly.
  • Provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting.
  • Support the Family Practice team (RNs, Physicians, and other providers).
