About The Position

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, is seeking a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication Sciences & Disorders to begin Fall 2026. TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution located in Laredo, Texas, with a mission to advance knowledge through research, teaching, community engagement, and a focus on student success and research excellence. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month academic appointment. The primary responsibilities include teaching assigned speech-language pathology courses, providing clinical supervision of students in various settings, managing administrative aspects of courses, and advising students. The role also involves initiating and participating in scholarly and professional activities, providing community service, and contributing to the department, college, and university. This position requires regular on-campus attendance.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate (EdD or PhD) in Communication Sciences & Disorders, speech-language hearing sciences or related discipline from an accredited university (ABDs will be considered if completion date is prior to the start of the assignment)
  • Master's degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders with a concentration in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Three years of teaching experience or related professional experience
  • Three years of clinical experience with pediatric and/or adult clients
  • Active, or the ability to obtain, Texas Licensure to practice as a SLP in a medical/educational setting

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in speech-language pathology
  • Foundational knowledge of audiology, including basic hearing science and assessment principles

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned speech-language pathology courses each semester
  • Providing appropriate clinical supervision of students across a variety of settings
  • Completing all administrative aspects of the courses taught
  • Advising students throughout their program of studies
  • Initiating and participating in scholarly and professional activities at the local, state, and national levels
  • Providing service to the community through participation in the planning and presentation of various programs focused on promoting the increased well-being of the community
  • Engaging in service to the department, college, and university
