About The Position

The Clinical Assistant Intern is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in clinical support, patient care services, and healthcare operations within a nonprofit community healthcare organization. This role provides practical training and work experience while supporting clinical staff, patient flow, and day-to-day healthcare operations in a clinical setting. The intern will work closely with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to learn clinical support procedures, patient interaction skills, and healthcare workplace expectations. No prior healthcare experience is required; training will be provided.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled in a high school, college, or vocational program
  • Interest in healthcare, nursing, medical assisting, public health, or clinical operations
  • Basic computer and keyboarding skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work in a team environment

Nice To Haves

  • No prior healthcare or office experience is required. Training and mentorship will be provided throughout the internship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff with preparing exam rooms and maintaining clean, organized patient care areas
  • Support patient intake and rooming processes under supervision
  • Help obtain and document basic patient information as directed
  • Assist with stocking clinical supplies and maintaining inventory organization
  • Escort patients within clinic areas as needed
  • Support administrative and clerical functions related to patient care operations
  • Assist with scanning, filing, and maintaining patient-related documentation
  • Observe and support patient flow coordination within the clinic
  • Respond professionally to patient questions and requests
  • Follow all organizational safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
  • Perform other clinical support and administrative duties as assigned
