Requirements

  • Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures.
  • Ability to take direction from MAs, Front Office staff and providers.
  • Ability to maintain records and record test results once trained.
  • Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in person and over the telephone, with the ability to interact with patients in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Patient and helpful demeanor to assist patients in feeling welcome, comfortable, and relaxed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with patients, their families, and staff members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be HIPAA compliant.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 20 pounds.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to use a variety of office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in physician’s office a plus but not required.
  • Medical Translation Spanish Certification (CHI or CMI) is valued and considered for additional compensation.
  • Ability to cover at other primary care locations a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms and treatment rooms.
  • Shadow and learn new skills from Medical Assistants and Front Office staff.
  • Teach and confirm the accuracy of vital sign measurements.
  • Review HIPAA, OSHA, and COVID policies and testing.
  • Treat patients with courtesy and compassion.
  • Help facilitate patient flow and communicate changes with patients and clinical staff.
  • Maintain courteous relationships with outside caregivers, insurance carriers, labs, hospitals, and pharmacies at all times.
  • Assist MA with ordering medical supplies & stocking exam rooms with appropriate items.
  • Assist MA with Regular cleaning/maintenance of all medical equipment.
  • Assist with handling prescription refills, once appropriately trained.
