About The Position

Fort Washington Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Clinical Administrator for our Nursing Administration department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Clinical Administrator, you will model and encourage professional practice that includes nurse autonomy, authority, accountability, and responsibility within their unit. You will operationalize the strategic plan for the Nursing Administration department and the hospital, establish expectations for staff, and appropriately provide resources for care. The role involves adhering to and staying abreast of organizational policies and procedures, acting as a resource to nurses and others in the department and organization. You will demonstrate effective communication, conflict resolution, team building, and leadership skills, acting as the patient representative during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also ensures that all infection control precautions and procedures are followed, conducts hospital nursing unit rounds to monitor census and staffing, and makes recommendations when appropriate. You will conduct daily bed huddles to provide an overview of the current status of the hospital and investigate and assist in the resolution of significant events affecting patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an Associate of Science degree required, bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Maryland RN license required
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Five years’ work experience in acute care setting
  • 2 years in a leadership position
  • 2 years of supervisory/management experience required

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily bed huddles in Nursing Administration with nursing and bed-control staff to provide an overview of the current status of the hospital including admissions, surgeries, transfers, and discharges to facilitate throughout.
  • Investigates and assists in the resolution of significant events such as near misses; adverse events; patient/family complaints; and any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care in a timely manner.
  • Executes all other duties as required.
