About The Position

The Clinic Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of the Renfrew Mobile Clinic Program. Working from a mobile veterinary unit stationed at the Renfrew County Animal Centre, the Clinic Supervisor oversees daily clinic operations, staff scheduling, inventory management, client service delivery, and clinical support activities. The Clinic Supervisor provides direct supervision to the Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist, volunteers, students, and placement learners while working closely with the Veterinarian to deliver high-quality veterinary services to both Ontario SPCA animals and community-owned pets. This role actively participates in surgical procedures, wellness appointments, urgent care support, and humane euthanasia services while ensuring compliance with College of Veterinarians of Ontario standards and Ontario SPCA policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the OAVT.
  • 2–5 years of veterinary clinical experience.
  • Strong surgical and anesthesia monitoring experience.
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong client service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Valid G Driver's License and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist in ensuring exceptional client service and efficient appointment flow.
  • Supports community members accessing wellness, surgical, and euthanasia services.
  • Oversees client communication, appointment scheduling, patient admissions, and discharges.
  • Models and coaches high customer service standards.
  • Provides daily supervision to clinic staff and volunteers.
  • Assists the Veterinarian with wellness appointments, surgical procedures, urgent care cases, and euthanasia services.
  • Monitors anesthesia and patient recovery.
  • Oversees medication preparation and administration.
  • Supports treatment planning and patient follow-up.
  • Maintains low-stress and fear-free handling standards.
  • Coordinates daily operations of the mobile veterinary unit.
  • Oversees mobile clinic setup, maintenance, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Maintains inventory of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensures proper storage and documentation of controlled substances.
  • Coordinates appointment schedules and patient flow.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and operational reporting.
  • Assists with implementation of clinic procedures and workflows.
  • Provides direct supervision to the Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist.
  • Coordinates daily assignments and workload distribution.
  • Conducts training and onboarding.
  • Coaches performance and provides ongoing feedback.
  • Supports volunteer engagement and training.
