About The Position

La Clínica de La Raza is a community-based health center dedicated to providing culturally appropriate, high-quality, and accessible healthcare to diverse communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. With over 40 years of experience, we advocate for and create a health-home for those denied access to care. We address economic and social factors affecting health and link individuals to our health center for preventive and primary care. We have grown into a sophisticated provider of primary health care services with 35 sites across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano counties.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing patient services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records.
  • Working knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, onboarding, performance management, and training.
  • Working knowledge and experience with NextGen, Practice Management System, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with stakeholders and maintain good working relationships with other staff.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong (problem recognition).
  • Ability to work across cultures and demonstrate support of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of progressively responsible work in a community health center, including direct services to low-income and immigrant patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to create a budget, documenting revenue and expenses.
  • English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Bachelor's degree or medical/dental assistant certification.
  • Cultural competence working in diverse/low-income communities.
  • Supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, and supervises receptionists, clinical assistants, referrals, and medical records clerks.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and develops improvement plans for staff, and initiates remedial instruction for staff needing retraining.
  • Participates in relevant meetings, trainings, and collaborative activities.
  • Ensures coverage of absences on a daily basis.
  • Performs tasks in the absence of key staff or as workload demands.
  • Facilitates smooth clinic flow and communications between all departments.
  • Ensures compliance with existing policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a safe and functional clinic environment, including facilities, equipment, custodial services, and information technology.
  • Seeks to maximize third-party revenues through appropriate provider scheduling.
  • Advocates for patients by responding to complaints, supervising the appointment tickler system, and providing patient letters.
  • Collaborates with the Site Manager and Associate Medical Director to maintain high standards of care and customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
