About The Position

This position is for a 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week) role in a clinic setting, with shifts typically falling on the 1st or 2nd shift. The schedule includes 7:45 AM to 8:15 PM shifts per week, with one Friday, Saturday, Sunday every 6 weeks, and one holiday shift per year. The role involves providing direct and indirect patient care, observation, and counsel to patients and their families, while collaborating with providers and healthcare team members. The position emphasizes a caring consciousness through a relationship-based care delivery model and Planetree patient-centered programs to meet holistic patient needs (physical, emotional, spiritual, environmental, cultural, and psychological). The nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for evidence-based nursing care under the supervision of a provider and must understand the legal implications within their scope of practice. The role also involves orientation, training, and clinical development for other clinic nursing team members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nurses OR Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa OR Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa.
  • Must be currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa OR Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Iowa.
  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system.
  • Job specific systems are also required.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
  • Proper body mechanics and ergonomics and, as applicable, lifting/moving devices must be used.
  • Moderate bending.

  • Previous experience in a clinic setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a caring consciousness through relationship-based care delivery model and utilization of Planetree patient centered programs/therapies to meet the holistic needs of the patient.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of evidence-based nursing care under the supervision of a provider.
  • Recognize and understand the legal implications within the scope of nursing practice.
  • Utilize judgment and skill in providing direct and indirect patient care, observation, and counsel to patients and family.
  • Communicate with providers, manager, and/or other healthcare team members about changes in patients’ clinic condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.
  • Provide orientation, training and clinical development by serving both as a mentor and consultant to other members of the clinic nursing team.
  • Responsible for various duties of the clinic, including reception and providing direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care.
  • Assume responsibility within the scope of CMA duties and accountability for the delivery of evidenced based care at WHC Clinics under the supervision of a provider.
